I have studied dance most of my life of 39+ years. For the past 10 years, I've immersed my self in the Nia practice. The first principle in Nia is accessing Joy through moving our bodies, no matter what situation we might find our selves in. In Nia we are lead by the teacher to listen to our own body's way and encouraged to move together as a group. We support our bodies by playing with strength, flexibility, mobility, stability and agility. Nia is a time for release and gathering energy. Through life's gifts and challenges, I've used Nia as a tool to move more gracefully, flowing in and out of community and self. I've learned to go deep into my own movements and what they mean to me as they ripple out into the others around me and beyond.
Eight years of my Nia practice has been in this sacred space, Magictown. I spent about 2 and a half years in San Diego and Colorado Springs, completing my white belt training and taking Nia classes from a number of inspirational teachers. I look forward to more trainings, leading Nia and being lead.
This class is intended for all walks of life, body stages and abilities. Join me as we dance, express, feel and listen.
