Janet Foster

Twenty-plus years ago, during a simple spinal twist at the end of a yoga practice, I experienced a deep stillness so impactful that it continues to this day to define my personal yoga practice. I continued on with life as normal: career, children, relocations, recreational ultra-cycling, until my husband and I retired and moved to Marshall, NC in 2012. I consider myself to be a continuing student of yoga. I lead yoga classes with more of a feeling of sharing what I have learned, than with a purpose to “teach”. We all teach ourselves. It just depends on who we listen to at the moment. I am learning if I am quiet and still, the voice comes from within. I belong to a small sangha devoted to the study of non-duality. For reasons I cannot fully justify, I also am attempting to learn Sanskrit. I have immense gratitude for my all my teachers, but especially Richard Fabio, whose insight, depth, and honesty are guiding me to self-realization. I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Asheville Yoga Center in January 2020. I have since completed advanced trainings in Yoga Nidra (from Indu Arora and Jeremy Wolf), and Shavasana Expert (from Indu Arora). As well as being an RYT-200 Yoga Teacher, I am also certified as a Yoga Nidra Teacher, and an American Council of Exercise Group Fitness Instructor.
